JOB PURPOSE:
- Provide direct supervision and technical expertise relating to mechanical maintenance work performed on rig mechanical equipment.
- Review the Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) JD Edwards for maintenance enhancements to ensure that the equipment functionality, reliability, availability, and performance are maximized.
- Provide direction and oversight to rig personnel for troubleshooting of rig mechanical systems to minimize potential downtime.
- Provide company overview / expertise of repair standards for mechanical equipment.
- Provide Divisional review of company maintenance systems with a focus on maintaining rig and fleet equipment and ensure maintenance complies with local Legislation, Verification Bodies, HSE Cases, Clients, and company standards.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide immediate trouble shooting assistance via phone, web or remote diagnostic support until the support team arrives on site or the issue is resolved.
- Provide technical assistance in the Maintenance and management of well control equipment.
- Liaise with Client, Vendor, and in-house support services as necessary to resolve equipment breakdown issues and minimize re-occurrence.
- Local and International travel to provide direct supervision and/or technical, mechanical, and drilling systems support.
- Communicate with Rig Maintenance Supervisors, Division Maintenance Managers and offshore and shore-based maintenance personnel regarding equipment failures, root causes and facilitating the repairs.
- Develop equipment repair and overhaul standards. Oversee repair and delivery of new equipment as required by QA and FAT of equipment.
- Assist with spare equipment oversight for the regions and drilling units as required. Build relationships with manufacturers and suppliers and participate in facility, workshop, and service quality audits.
- Assist corporate technical teams as and when required – Equipment failure analysis, where possible developing solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Provide technical support where required to identify replacement parts (used/new) liaising with preferred vendors to ensure correct repairs are identified and implemented.
- Assist corporate capital spare manager with reviewing spares as required
- Review OEM and TP inspection reports, liaising directly with vendors to control costs, ensure work scopes / repairs are justified, correctly defined, and costed. Identify savings and implement where possible.
- Confer with management personnel to establish maintenance and repair standards, obtain data regarding equipment, quality, specifications, and repair standards of existing, and ordered equipment.
- Provide input to planning, budgeting, and scheduling of modifications and programmed maintenance items.
- Keep abreast of equipment costs and obtain equipment quotes as required.
- Visit Company's rigs on Norwegian continental shelf, audit quality and methods of maintenance being performed and provide formal reports to management.
- Provide assistance with rig shipyard / upgrade projects as required.
- Assist rig maintenance personnel with troubleshooting of Mechanical and hydraulic systems and associated equipment, providing direction and oversight to minimize potential down time.
- Develop maintenance routines on new and existing equipment, establish maintenance priorities as required. Review and analyze down time events, failure analysis, root cause, maintenance, and operational reports to provide guidance to Corporate, Division, and local Operations Bulletins, Maintenance Alerts, operating or maintenance problems Review JD Edwards equipment data and maintenance tasks for Norwegian rigs to ensure compliance with local regulations
- Develop and implement maintenance and repair methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve life cycle management.
- Revise maintenance and repair routines as a result of equipment failure or operating problem analyses.
- Consult with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to ensure proper operation.
- Review audits and inspection by Company, Client, Verification and Regulatory Bodies and respond appropriately to close out issues raised.
- Review equipment data and maintenance tasks.
- Understand and comply with Company's health, safety, environmental, quality policies and standards.
- Interface with all departments in the performance of job functions and assist, as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Minimum Required: Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or comparable experience.
Preferred Level: 5 or more years of experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS); JD Edwards preferred
Experience:
Minimum Required:5 to 10 years progressive experience and responsibility in a maintenance or mechanical field directly related to the operation, repair, and maintenance of marine / offshore equipment.
Preferred Level: 5 or more years of experience in a supervisory position directing maintenance personnel and support organization.
Skills:
- Demonstrated leadership and management abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and other appropriate software.
- Must have an excellent understanding of offshore operations and requirements of a support organization.
